Boardwalk Bakery…After Refurbishment

So I am lucky enough to be down here for the reopening of one of my favorite eateries on Disney Property and that’s the Boardwalk Bakery. It is conveniently located on the Boardwalk and is accessable from any Epcot area resort by foot or if you are anywhere else on property just a short car ride away. Now one side note, there isn’t direct bus service to the Boardwalk so you will have to transfer at a park. Now back to the good stuff.

I was not able to make it to the reopening day on April 26th but I made it April 27th. Same thing right…as far as I know there wasn’t a celebration or anything.

The first thing you notice are two signs out front. Once for the bakery entrance and one for the refillable mug entrance. Boardwalk Bakery has now become one of the official refill spots for the Boardwalk area resorts.

When you enter the Bakery there is a very large case with all kinds of treats. Starting on the left you have baked goods followed by the current sandwich offering, which was a breakfast sandwich, then in the far right case you have cupcakes, brownies and other chocolate goodies.

The drink refill station is large and well laid out. They also brew their own coffee here, none of the Nescafe that we have all grown to love or hate through the years. The coffee is good but not great. I am enjoying a cup right now so it can’t be too bad…

What did I finally take back to the resort you may ask? Well I snagged a nice apple tart and to mickey muffins, one a chocolate chip and one a cranberry. They were all delicious but it’s all in the name of research and reporting right?

Answer to the Picture of the Day for April 14,2013

Yesterday’s picture of the day was taken in Animal Kingdom. I asked which land. And the answer is….outside Mombasa Marketplace as you walk towards the train and Kilamanjaro Safari.

A funny story about signs at Animal Kingdom. When the park was first built they didn’t have a sign pointing to the exit so guests would wander the park trying to find their way out. Now they have signs helping you find your way.

Never fear you won’t be lost in the park forever. There are plenty of signs to help you find your way out! Stay tuned for next week!

Here’s to another 40 years!

“Walt Disney World is tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney … and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyalty of the entire Disney organization that made Walt Disney’s dream come true. May Walt Disney World bring Joy and Inspiration and New Knowledge to all who come to this happy place … a Magic Kingdom where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and play and learn – together.”

Disney Artwork

If you want to really get taken into the realm of “everything Disney,” I suggest taking time to notice the detail of everything you experience. The artwork that is experienced at Walt Disney World is all-encompassing. Every detail put into the parks, resorts, and all of the surrounding area is well worth taking a peek at. The rides are all themed, with each ride comes a touch of art and a story behind it. It’s not just the pictures hanging on the walls or a vase on a shelf, but everything the ride is built around.

Building Art

There are subtle pieces of art, hands-on art, and art to look at. Each piece allows each guest to be included in the themes and ambiance that they have to offer. A new realm of imagination is encouraged with each detail that is examined. For instance, the train yard at the Germany Pavilion at the World Showcase at Epcot. How can you not imagine being a citizen of that tiny village, watching the trains come through from time to time?

Castle

I have included a few pictures of what I see as artwork, in Disney World, and look forward to seeing each time I visit. I hope you enjoy them.

Behind the Seeds

There is a tour very few people know about but can be quite fascinating and fun. It’s the Behind the Seeds tour. This tour takes you behind the scenes in the Land pavilion at the Living with the Land attraction. This walking tour last roughly an hour but you can see all of the plants and systems up close that you can normally only see from a boat.

The tour is lead by a Disney cast member and starts at the entrance to Soarin right at the desk. As far as tours go it is a great introduction to Disney tours. It is inexpensive, unless things have changed it is less than $20 USD. It is short and it is all in doors. Like I said it is a walking tour but it is completely wheelchair and ECV friendly so don’t think that will hold you back.

The images above are of the end of the ride. This is the area that you see with the suspended plants that are on conveyor belts. The pictures below are of pumpkins that are freshly harvested and one that is “earning its ears.”

This is the Lettuce rack that you pass as you float by in the boats. If you look close on the other side of the greenhouse you may see the image of the famous mouse.

Oh look there goes a boat…

I think these are sweet potatoes but I can’t really remember.

Last but not least you can get up close and personal with the fish and alligators. You may even be able to feed the fish!

I love this tour. It is rarely if ever crowded sometimes you may be the only ones in your group. I wouldn’t recommend this for youngsters they may get bored walking around “looking at plants” but if you have ever wondered how they make this greenhouse work you can ask questions to your hearts content.

As with any tour I want you to experience it for yourself. I will be happy to answer any question that you may have but I don’t want to give away spoilers in the posts. I want to give you just enough to whet your appetite.
