When we got back to our hotel we decided to go by the lobby and the Community Hall. I really wanted a cookie and Saratoga Springs has some of the best. Then we went to the Community Hall. If you aren’t familiar with Disney Vacation Club resorts this is an area where you can borrow movies and games and it also has a place for kids crafts and other fun things to do. We always like going by the Halls in the different DVC resorts in which we stay. We like to borrow the movies and occasionally we will also get a game or two to play in the room at night. We grabbed Newsies and headed for the room. We popped the DVD in and promptly fell asleep. What a fun bunch we are.
We woke up a few hours later and began getting ready for our dinner reservations at La Hacienda de San Angel. I was excited and nervous about this restaurant because it was brand new and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I love Mexican food and Mandy does too. So we were both wondering if it was going to be good or a step above Taco Bell. I am very happy to report that it is an establishment we will return to in the future. Not only was the food superb but it is the only restaurant I have been in, Mexican or otherwise, that has a tequila reresentative. Mandy of course couldn’t have one so I decided to take them up on the offer of a refreshing adult beverage. It was the traditional lime margarita made with two different types of top shelf tequila. I couldn’t tell the difference but it was really good.
For dinner that night we had the Del Mar Parrillada. It is a Mixed grill offering mahi-mahi, shrimp, scallops and vegetables, served with beans and fresh salsas. It was more than perfect. I have grown up on and around the Gulf of Mexico all my life. Because of this I know what fresh seafood tastes like, Especially shrimp. I can say with almost 100% certainty that these shrimp and scallops had never seen a freezer. Which is good because at $49.95 for the meal it better. Wait, don’t worry it was a meal for two. I wouldn’t never spend that much on just me unless it was the Yachtsmans Steakhouse or Victoria and Alberts.
After dinner we rolled ourselves out of the restaurant and enjoyed a lovely walk around the promenade. It was an amazing night of nice cool breezes and the sounds of all the guests getting ready for the fireworks to come.
We left after a short walk and were in the car and on the way back to the resort before the fireworks even started. It was an amazing first day of our trip.
Part Three to come…
