The Biergarten Restaurant…one blogger’s journey into the unknown

There are few things that I like more than eating. I think Lou Mongello and I can definitely agree that it is one of the best parts of Walt Disney World. Mandy and I always try to eat somewhere different on each trip and always try to have that “new” experience with dining. Why then on multiple trips would I make reservations for The Biergarten and inevitably cancel them? I mean come on I have eaten in Morocco many times and love it. What was my fear? Was it that everything was going to be pickled? That the only meat on the buffet was going to be a sausage? That I would have to sit with people I didn’t know and pretend to want to make polite conversation over a really expensive meal? Well the answers to all those questions was a resounding yes.

There was always something so foreign about knockwurst and sauerbraten. I mean I am an adventurous eater. There isn’t a sushi roll or Indian dish that I won’t try once. So what was my fear? I guess I was afraid that I wouldn’t like the experience. That the food was going to be sub par and that I would be miserable.

Well to my surprise…It was the best meal of the entire trip. The ambiance was amazing. The band was entertaining and last but certainly not least the food was exquisite. They of course have all the bratens and wursts and sauers, but they also have cold salads that are out of this world. Fresh carved meat station, a fish station, and the beloved dessert bar with all the apple strudel you can eat.

Oh and did I mention the Beer? This may not be everyone’s liter of cold hoppy deliciousness…I, uh, mean tea, but give it a chance. We were able to meet some really nice people at our table. Our server was excellent and now I have a new must do when I go to Walt Disney World and Epcot. Hey I’m even going back in August. So I say all that to say, step outside your eating comfort zone…you may find a new favorite.

Oh yeah and they serve half liter mugs of cold hoppy deliciousness too…but you’re on vacation right. Just leave the driving to Disney if you plan on consuming the whole thing.

Until Next time we’re WDW or Bust!
